Comedy Micro Drama Script Template: Taco Truck at the Swan Wedding

A romantic comedy micro drama template: 60-episode structure, joke-plus-heart beat sheet, original episode 1 script and an AI shot list.

60 episodes · updated Oct 1, 2026

Use this template for a rom-com with a lie at its center. Priya Shah has planned 112 weddings without one disaster. Wedding 113 is the Ashby-Lowe ceremony, and the caterer just quit by text.

Benny Ortiz parked his failing taco truck at the wrong venue. His GPS is older than his debt. Priya needs a chef in four hours, and Benny needs $9,000 by Friday.

Then the family matriarch decides Benny is a famous "truck chef." Now neither of them can back out.

Every episode still needs one emotional beat, even in comedy. Producers say the contrast keeps people watching: laugh, laugh, then one quiet line that hits.

What viewers expect from a romantic comedy

  • Opposites in the same frame: she's uptight, he's chaos, clipboard versus mustard stain. They should look like a joke just standing side by side.
  • A lie that keeps growing: Benny is now a celebrity chef. Each episode, the lie needs one more prop holding it up.
  • Set pieces: a ruined cake, a runaway swan, a tasting gone wrong. Plan at least one big comic scene per block of episodes.
  • Clichés worth twisting: skip "messy guy fixes uptight girl." Here Benny learns structure from Priya, and she learns to improvise from him. Both change, so you get twice the material.

Series structure at a glance

Aim for episodes of 60–80 seconds.

A cliffhanger is the hook at the end that makes people tap "next." In comedy it can be small, like a new problem or a terrible idea. It still has to land in the last five seconds.

The table shows where each block of episodes ends. Read the "Ends on" column as your cliffhanger list.

BlockEpisodesWhat happensEnds on

Episode 10 is the paywall beat, the point where many apps start charging. Make it your strongest scene so far.

Beat sheet

A beat sheet is the list of story moments, in order. Each line is one beat.

  1. Ep 1 Swan pond, taco truck, a furious planner. The caterer quits. Priya hires Benny on the spot.
  2. Ep 2 Benny meets the matriarch, Dame Cecily Ashby. She has a famous palate and no patience.
  3. Ep 3 Cecily hears "chef" and "truck." She decides he's the hot new star chef she read about.
  4. Ep 4–6 Priya invents a backstory for him: Lyon, a Michelin mentor, a tragic soufflé. Benny can't pronounce any of it.
  5. Ep 7–9 A food blogger shows up with a camera. Benny bluffs with confidence and a churro.
  6. Ep 10 (paywall beat) The tasting. His grandmother's mole stops the room. Cecily will review him.
  7. Ep 11–20 Seven-course prep in a truck. Kitchen chaos. The swan steals a tamale, and Priya learns to fold masa.
  8. Ep 21–30 Late-night menu planning turns into something more. Priya kisses him to stop him confessing in front of the groom.
  9. Ep 31–38 The bride, Olivia, admits she doesn't want the wedding. She only booked it for Cecily.
  10. Ep 39–50 A heist-style plan to help Olivia elope and keep the dinner going. The best man is Benny's lender.
  11. Ep 51–55 Rehearsal dinner. The lender talks, and everyone finds out. The truck gets towed and Priya's reputation sinks.
  12. Ep 56–60 Olivia and the groom elope together. Cecily eats at the impound lot and writes the review anyway.

Sample Episode 1

Screen time is about 1:30. The timestamps in brackets show where each part should fall.

EPISODE 1 - "WRONG VENUE"

[0:00–0:03 HOOK]

EXT. HARTWELL ESTATE - SWAN POND - DAY

PRIYA SHAH (26, headset, color-coded clipboard, pristine
blazer) sprints across the lawn, heels in hand.

PRIYA
Who parked a taco truck
in my swan pond?

[0:03–0:25]

A battered taco truck sits with one wheel in the pond. A SWAN
glares at it. BENNY ORTIZ (27, curly hair, mustard-stained
apron) leans out the service window.

BENNY
It's next to the pond. Technically.

PRIYA
The wheel is IN the pond.

BENNY
The wheel's curious.

Priya's phone buzzes. She reads it. Her face drops.

INSERT - PHONE SCREEN

"So sorry. We can't do today. Good luck! -- Bellamy Catering"

[0:25–0:55]

PRIYA
(into headset)
Code Swan. Repeat. Code Swan.

ASSISTANT (V.O.)
What's Code Swan?

PRIYA
No idea. I just made it up.
We've got no food. For 200 people.

Benny holds up a tray of tacos through the window.

BENNY
I've got food for, like, 60.
80 if they're polite.

Priya looks at the tacos. At the truck. At her clipboard.

PRIYA
Feed 200 by six o'clock. How much?

BENNY
(counts on his fingers, gives up)
How much you got?

[0:55–1:15]

EXT. HARTWELL ESTATE - TERRACE - MOMENTS LATER

DAME CECILY ASHBY (78, pearls, cane, the posture of a queen)
steps onto the terrace with the GROOM'S MOTHER.

CECILY
Who's that?

PRIYA
(panicking, way too bright)
Our chef!

CECILY
In a truck?

PRIYA
It's a very... famous truck.

[1:15–1:30 CLIFFHANGER]

Cecily's eyes light up. She grabs Priya's arm.

CECILY
The truck chef! I've read about him.
Seven courses. Tonight.
And tell him I'm writing it up.

She sweeps away. Priya turns slowly to Benny.

BENNY
(mouthing)
Seven?

The swan honks.

SMASH CUT TO BLACK.

The emotional beat here is tiny on purpose. Benny's "How much you got?" is a joke, but it's also the first sign he's desperate. Pay it off around Episode 6, when we see his overdue notice.

Adapting it to AI video

Plan on about 14 generations (one generation = one clip the model makes for you).

Comedy lives on timing, and AI clips don't always give you a clean pause. Make each reaction shot a bit longer than you need, then trim it in the edit. The joke lands on the reaction.

Use the table as your shot list. The "Try" column is the model we'd start with for that shot.

Make these reference images first. A reference image is a picture you give the model so it copies that look every time.

  • Benny's mustard-stained apron, plus Priya's headset and clipboard. In comedy, props are character. Keep them in every shot.
  • The truck: one design, one paint job, one dented fender. Make a reference sheet of it from four sides.
  • One swan. Really. It's a running gag, and if it changes size between shots, the joke gets weird.
  • Cecily's pearls and cane. A strong outline helps side characters read fast in a 9:16 frame.
