About printfilm

PRINTFILM runs a fixed pipeline: storyboard, images, video, then FFmpeg compositing. Give it a topic or script, and it builds the shots for you. It has two lines: AI comic drama with reusable characters, and short video from templates. Real generation needs a paid TokenFree API key, and the docs are Chinese-only.

Best for: Small teams that want to self-host the whole comic-drama pipeline with their own API keys.

What it does

  • Builds comic-drama episodes with reusable character, scene and prop assets
  • Picks from 20+ short-video templates, in full or image_text (static, cheaper) mode
  • Redoes one shot's image or video without rerunning the whole project
  • Runs one-off jobs in the tool center: text-to-image, video-to-video, and more
  • Configures models and API keys in the admin console, no code changes
  • Runs tasks in-process, so you don't need a separate Celery worker

Quickstart

Rewritten from the README. Check the repo for the latest steps.

  1. 1
Clone the repo and copy the env template: the command below, cd printfilm, the next command
    git clone https://github.com/yi1108/printfilm.git
    cp deploy/.env.docker.example deploy/.env.docker
  2. 2
Edit deploy/.env.docker and set POSTGRES_PASSWORD, SECRET_KEY, and OPENAI_API_KEY / ARK_API_KEY (the same key in both). Set ARK_MOCK=true to browse the UI without a key.
  3. 3
Start the stack: the command below. Wait about 30 seconds for the API health check.
    docker compose --env-file deploy/.env.docker up -d
  4. 4
Open the user site at http://localhost:8080, admin at http://localhost:8081, API docs at http://localhost:8000/docs
  5. 5
Register with your email, set ADMIN_BOOTSTRAP_EMAILS to it, then run the command below to get admin rights.
    docker compose --env-file deploy/.env.docker up -d --force-recreate api
  6. 6
To build from source instead of pulling images: the command below
    docker compose --env-file deploy/.env.docker -f docker-compose.full.yml up -d --build
