About VectCutAPI

VectCutAPI hands you an API and an MCP server for editing video with code. Add video, audio, text, subtitles, stickers and keyframes to a project. The result saves as a CapCut or Jianying draft you can open and finish. The editing agent, web client and cloud rendering are not open source, though.

Best for: Automation teams that want agents to assemble AI clips into CapCut drafts.

What it does

  • Adds video, audio, image, text, sticker and subtitle tracks by API
  • Saves projects as CapCut or Jianying draft files
  • Animates properties with keyframes and easing
  • Imports SRT subtitles with your own style and timing
  • Previews edits in the browser without downloading
  • Renders the final video in the cloud through the hosted service

    Install Python 3.10+, FFmpeg, and CapCut or Jianying on your machine

    Clone the repo and make a virtual environment: the command below, cd VectCutAPI, python -m venv venv-capcut, the next command
    git clone https://github.com/sun-guannan/VectCutAPI.git
    source venv-capcut/bin/activate

    Install dependencies: the command below (add the next command for MCP)
    pip install -r requirements.txt
    pip install -r requirements-mcp.txt
  4. 4
    Copy the config: the command below and edit it as needed
    cp config.json.example config.json
  5. 5
    Start the HTTP API with python capcut_server.py (port 9001) or MCP with python mcp_server.py
  6. 6
    Check the MCP connection with python test_mcp_client.py
