SmartSub is a free desktop app that turns video into subtitles and dubbed audio. Speech-to-text runs on your own computer, so files stay local. You can also plug in paid cloud services for translation, dubbing or transcription. Free Edge TTS is a trial interface with no uptime promise.

   Download the installer for your OS and chip from GitHub Releases, or on macOS run brew tap buxuku/tap then brew install --cask smartsub.

   Follow the onboarding to download a speech model, or set up a cloud transcription service instead.

   Drag audio, video or subtitle files into the task launcher, or paste a video link to download it.

   Set the source and target languages, then run the task.

   When it finishes, proofread the subtitles, dub them, or burn them in.

   For agent use, open Settings → Connect AI Tools (MCP) and register Cursor, Codex or Claude Code.
