About fablr

Fablr is a desktop app for film commentary, micro-drama re-cuts and highlight remixes. It runs on your own machine, in four workshops, from raw footage to a finished cut. You build a script, cut on a five-track timeline, and export a Jianying (CapCut) draft. Help files are Chinese-only, and the publish targets are Chinese platforms.

• Splits long videos into scenes with FFprobe and its own shot detection
• Finds lines and highlights by keyword, down to the timestamp
• Tags shots by mood: fight, suspense, twist, climax
• Builds script cards: 3-second hook, main line, twist, ending
• Estimates voice-over length from Chinese reading speed
• Exports a Jianying (CapCut) draft_content.json file

   Install Node.js 20+, pnpm 9+, Rust 1.80+ and FFmpeg 6.0+

   Run pnpm install to get the frontend dependencies

   Start the desktop app with npm run tauri dev

   Build for release with npm run build then npm run tauri build

   Check your setup with npm run verify:all and npm run test:run
