Yes, Kling AI has a free plan. You can make videos with it, but they carry a Kling watermark. Kling's own page says the free tier exports at 1080p, and that paid memberships remove the watermark.
What the free plan gets you
The free plan is called Basic, and it costs $0. It runs on credits, like every Kling plan.
Kling doesn't print how many free credits you get on its plan page. Older guides say 66 a day, newer ones describe a check-in reward, and creators report it changing. So check the number in your own account before you plan a project around it.
Two limits matter for anything you post. Free videos have a watermark. And the plan page lists commercial use as a paid benefit, so don't run free clips in ads or client work.
What a clip costs in credits
These are the official rates for Kling 3.0 in the app, per second of video:
| Kling 3.0 | 720p | 1080p |
|---|---|---|
| No audio | 6 credits | 8 credits |
| With native audio | 9 credits | 12 credits |
| 4K | 30 credits | 30 credits |
The takeaway: a 5-second clip at 720p with no sound is 30 credits, and the same clip at 1080p with sound is 60. Draft without audio at 720p, and only re-run the keepers at full quality.
Paid plans
Here are the list prices from Kling's plan page, checked on October 1, 2026:
| Plan | Price a month | Credits a month |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $10 | 660 |
| Pro | $37 | 3,000 |
| Premier | $92 | 8,000 |
| Ultra | $180 | 26,000 |
The takeaway: Standard is the cheapest way to drop the watermark and get commercial use. The page also shows first-month and yearly discounts, and those change often.
Pro's 3,000 credits buy about 250 seconds of 1080p video with audio. That's before retakes, and you will retake.
Pay per second instead
If you only need a few clips, a subscription can cost more than you use. fal.ai sells Kling 3.0 per second, with no package to buy:
- Kling 3.0 Standard: $0.084 a second with no audio, $0.126 with audio.
- Kling 3.0 Pro: $0.112 a second with no audio, $0.168 with audio.
So a 5-second clip with sound costs about $0.63 on Standard. Kling's own API needs a $700 prepaid package, which is a studio budget.
Free ways to make AI video right now
If the free Kling credits run out, two other big models give everyone a daily allowance:
- Veo, in Google Flow. Everyone gets 50 Flow credits a day, and a Veo 3.1 Fast clip costs 20, so that's two Fast clips. See how to use Veo 3 for free.
- Seedance, in Dreamina. CapCut's Dreamina app gives free daily credits. See Seedance 2.5: free access and pricing.
Make the free credits last
- Write the shot before you spend. Our Kling prompt generator lays out shots, lengths and dialogue in Kling's format.
- Keep clips short. Three to five shots of 2 to 4 seconds each is the usual pace for a micro drama.
- Draft at 720p with no audio. That's the cheapest rate in the table above.
- Copy a prompt that already works. Our Kling prompts are free to reuse.
