About novelvids

NovelVids splits chapters, pulls out characters and scenes, then writes storyboards and makes video. It handles a novel or a reference video as the starting point. You'll need your own paid model API keys, and commercial use is off the table.

Best for: Small studios that want to self-host a novel-to-drama pipeline and plug in their own API keys.

• Splits pasted text or doc/docx/txt/pdf files into chapters
• Rebuilds storyboards from mp4/mov files or episode folders
• Extracts characters, scenes and props, then makes reference images
• Writes per-shot prompts with @asset and @audio bindings
• Assigns voices per character or narration from an audio library
• Tracks tokens, images, seconds and cost in a dashboard

   Clone the repo: the command below then cd novelvids

   Build and start it: docker compose up -d --build

   Open http://localhost:8080 and the API docs at http://localhost:8080/docs

   Add your AI model API keys on the Settings / Model Configuration page before generating

   For local dev: uv sync --dev and make dev PORT=9000 for the backend, then npm ci and npm run dev inside web/
